A policy states that social media networks and text messaging are great entry points for building relationships
with youth. Every effort will be made to increase interaction off cyberspace. Communication with youth (grade 6-12) or 12 years of age or older via social media, telephone and texting is permitted under the following conditions:
a. Ministry Personnel are to secure written permission from parents to communicate with youth. Permission can be secured on an annual registration form; and
b. Communication with a Youth via email, Facebook, or other on-line social networks will be monitored closely. Access of ministry personnel will be made available to the ministry lead as to be transparent. Every effort will be made to obtain parental permission but in cases of outreach ministry where parents are not part of SGC, ministry personnel will do their due diligence in keeping conversations that will demonstrate and model purity, integrity, transparency and accountability.
